Jennifer is a massage therapist and Alexander Technique teacher by trade, and a mother of two daughters. Her oldest daughter Sarah has special needs and is on the autism spectrum. When Sarah was four, Jennifer trained at the Autism Treatment Center of America to learn how to run a Son-Rise Program. She called her program Sarah-Rise. She spent hours working one-on-one with Sarah, and trained volunteers to do the same. The program met Sarah where she was and never forced her to connect, but it offered every opportunity to connect when she was ready. Sarah learned to speak, eat healthily, play games, play imaginatively, use the toilet, read, and write. Jennifer shares about her parenting journey and Sarah’s growing in her book called Watching Sarah Rise: A Journey of Thriving with Autism.
